The book distinguishes between common childhood personality types, providing easy techniques tailor-fit for all kinds of kids, whether they're stubborn or willful, clinging to diapers, afraid to move on, or just late-bloomers.

I never write reviews, but I had to for this book. I agonized over choosing a potty-training book, so I know how helpful these reviews can be! Before buying this book, my 2 1/2 year old daughter was stuck about halfway through potty training. She knew how to use the potty, wasn't necessarily scared of it, but just didn't seem interested. She would use it once a day before bed, but never again throughout the day. My husband and I were exhausted from cleaning up so many "accidents" that I broke down and bought this book. I didn't want to do the 3-day method and knew that stressing my daughter out was only going to make things work, so this book sounded the most appealing of all the options out there. I liked how the book explained different personality types and how to adjust your training accordingly. My daughter has a *very* strong personality (she's both impulsive and independent) and it turns out we were going about things the wrong way. We changed our methods based on the book's suggestions (I'll spare you the details!) and they worked (over the course of about 2 weeks)! I now recommend this books to all of my friends who are moms.Product details

StressFree Potty Training A Commonsense Guide to Finding the Right Approach for Your Child (Audible Audio Edition) Sara Au Stephanie Williams Peter L Stanihova Audible Studios Books Reviews
This book helps you custom you approach to your child's personality, it also gives you realistic expectation of what to expect and how to handle problems as they arrive. My child has sensory issues due to a medical condition, I honestly did not believe that he would ever be potty trained. I tried for three years on my own using different methods suggested by family, friends and doctors, it didn't work. After using this book as a guide for three months, we are almost there. It also addresses parents personalities and how it may be helping or not with the training.

I never like the "one size fits all" approach many parenting books have. Each child, parent, and situation is different and to assume that what works for one will work equally well for another is a fallacy.
This book starts with a brief quiz on how your child acts in certain situations to help paint a broad picture of their emerging personality. Then suggestions are given for techniques that would be most helpful in potty training a child with those traits (or a combination of traits).
Though my daughter is not yet ready for training, i can see how the methods suggested based on her personality would be more effective than others that run counter to it.
This book is really great because of the "personalities" aspect of it. In the beginning, there is a quiz to take to get your child's "personality" and then the book has different chapters on how to approach potty training based on your child's personality.
So where my son is a combination of two ("strong-willed" and "impulsive") I can go to the correllating chapters and read advice geared to his personality type. All kids are different and will respond differently to potty training, so it's great to have a book that gears its advice as specifically toward your individual child as possible.
Great book, easy to read and manageable information that helps you tailor training to the personality type of your child and helps you to understand how your child may respond to various methods. I love the chart of ages of when to expect various skills to appear on average. And the boy/girl comparison. I have actually referenced it to parents feeling frustrated by their child’s skills (or lack thereof).
This book gives wonderfully practical strategies for potty training with no outrageous promises of overnight success. The best part is that it approaches the process from your child's personality type and learning style. You take a quiz in the beginning to learn your child's primary learning style and then go to the chapter designated for that. I used this book for my internalizing personality type son with great success and now am using it for my impulsive daughter. For my internalizer start early and proceed very slowly. Expect very gradual but steady, measurable success. For my impulsive child Wait until there are a lot of readiness signs and expect LOTS of accidents! She'll seem to understand perfectly one day, and forget it all the next. I won't go into the specific strategies here, but knowing what to expect based on your child's learning style is so reassuring. For stress-free potty training, you need to approach it from your child's learning/personality style, and not your own. If potty training seems like it's a battle and you're convinced your child will never learn, you need this book!
This book is insightful and detailed. It explains and breaks down five common childhood personality types and how to go about potty training with each one. Your toddler may have some traits of two or more of these types which gives you more training options. There are also several different universal strategies and help on determining your toddler's readiness. It also helps you to understand your own personality type and how it relates to your toddler's, which is very useful for more than just potty training. This is not a book on how to potty train in a few days. The authors emphasize many times that you need to let your toddler set the pace for potty training so it shouldn't be stressful for your toddler or you. I really like this book and recommend it!
